Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is approaching, and holiday decorations are already popping up in storefront displays. In Southwest Florida, that means that the summer heat has finally retreated and the beautiful Autumn weather is here! And while beach days might be less appealing now, there is still plenty to do to enjoy the great outdoors. Here are five activities you can do during the Fall and Winter months in Florida.
1. Go Camping
This time of year is perfect to gather up the family and take off into the Florida wilderness for a weekend. Spend your days hiking through some local trails and then cozy up at night next to a campfire and roast s’mores.
2. Hunt for Seashells and Shark Teeth
Still craving a walk on the beach, even if it’s a little too chilly to swim? Shelling is an awesome year-round activity that you can get the whole family involved in! Write up a scavenger hunt of different shells and see who can find the most or look up some DIY craft projects and see what cool souvenirs you can make from the shells.
3. Explore Naples Zoo
Get in a full day of activities and fun at Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens. Spot all of your favorite animals like lions, giraffes, monkeys, pythons, and more and enjoy the historic tropic gardens of exotic plants. See a calendar of different events by clicking here.
4. Make Sand Sculptures and Castles
Another great cold weather beach activity is sand sculpting. Whether you work together as a team or work separately and make it a competition, you’ll spend hours of fun crafting your own creation out of the soft SWFL sand.
5. Have Your HVAC System Inspected
Every Fall (and Spring), you should be having your biannual HVAC inspection! Have a professional technician assess any potential problems so that your HVAC unit can keep running smoothly and low-cost all year long. At D&D Air Conditioning and Heating, we offer a free first inspection with 10% off repairs just for signing up!
